No. 1 Demon Deacons Move to 10-0 in ACC Play with Sweep Over Duke

Wake Forest heads into the final three matches of the regular season in firm control of first place in the conference standings.
DURHAM, N.C. – Wrapping up a highly dominant rivalry weekend, the No. 1-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team swept Duke, 4-0, Sunday afternoon at the Ambler Outdoor Tennis Stadium.
With three matches left in the regular season, the Demon Deacons (25-2, 10-0 ACC) are edging closer to their second-consecutive ACC regular season title. Wake Forest holds the tiebreaker over the second-place Cavaliers and will close the season at home against NC State.
ACC Standings
Wake Forest has now won 25 consecutive ACC regular-season matches following a flawless run last year and has totaled 126 conference victories since the start of the 2013 campaign, good for second during that span.
Wake Forest ended a three-match losing streak against Duke and has now won nine of the last 12 as it returned its dominance over the Blue Devils. Overall against Big Four opposition, head coach Tony Bresky is 34-20 (.629) for his career, including an above-.500 mark in road environments (12-9).
With the sweep, Wake Forest holds a combined 88-17 record in singles and a 53-9 mark in doubles, including 12 sweeps in its last 14 matches (eight of 10 in ACC play).
The Deacs took the opening point for the 24th time this season and for the 15th consecutive match, including all 10 in ACC play, with wins on courts two and three.
Junior Luca Pow paired up with freshman Aryan Shah for the third time this season and remained perfect as they defeated Long/Visser on court three in dominant 6-1 fashion. This marked Pow's 89th career doubles victory for the Deacs, which puts him three away from being tied for fifth in program history.
Career Doubles Wins - Wake Forest History
On the second doubles court, sophomore Kacper Szymkowiak and freshman Mees Rottgering once again clinched the opening point with a 7-5 come-from-behind win against Williams/Truwit to remain perfect (7-0) as a pair.
After taking the first set on five of the six singles courts against the Blue Devils, the Demon Deacons closed out the match with wins on courts three, four and five.
Extending his team lead to 18 singles wins with just two losses, sophomore Joaquin Guilleme was the first player off the court for the second-straight match after a stellar 6-0, 6-0 victory over Dylan Long on court four.
The Deacs took a 3-0 lead before the first set on court six was finished, as Shah followed up his strong doubles performance with a phenomenal 6-1, 6-2 win against Saahith Jayaraman on court five. The freshman is now 6-2 at the collegiate level and has yet to lose a match in ACC play.
Closing in on the top 10 in program history with 94 career singles wins, Pow improved to 16-3 this season with the match clinching victory (6-3, 6-2) over Gerard Planelles Ripoll on court three. He has now contributed to 183 combined singles and doubles wins over the last three years, the most out of any active Wake Forest player.

How It Happened
- Wake Forest jumped out to an early advantage in doubles, taking control on court three as the pair of Pow and Shah raced out to a 5-0 lead before closing out a dominant 6-1 victory to put the Deacs on the board first.
- On court two, Rottgering and Szymkowiak battled back from a deficit to secure a 7-5 comeback win and clinch the doubles point, while play on court one went unfinished.
- In singles, the Demon Deacons carried that momentum across the lineup, claiming first sets on five of six courts. Guilleme set the tone with a first-set victory, while Shah, Rottgering and Pow followed suit with strong opening frames.
- Suresh dropped a tightly contested first set in a tiebreaker on court one.
- Guilleme was the first to finish, cruising to a dominant straight-set win to give Wake Forest a 2-0 lead.
- Shah quickly followed with a decisive victory on court five, extending the advantage to 3-0.
- Pow then sealed the match for the Deacs on court three with a straight-set victory, clinching the 4-0 sweep over Duke.
