Team Records and Series Notes:
Wake Forest falls to 8-20 (1-12 ACC) while Virginia Tech improves to 18-8 (8-5 ACC).
Virginia Tech increased their lead in the overall series with the Deacons, which now stands at 28-26.
The Hokies swept the Deacs for the second time in the last five seasons. They also won both matchups against Wake Forest during the 2006-07 season.
Jeff Bzdelik's career head coaching record falls to 119-125.
The Demon Deacons will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Littlejohn Coliseum to take on Clemson. The game can be seen on RSN and will also be broadcast on the Wake Forest ISP Network. It is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tip-off.
Wake Forest Team Notes:
Key Run: With the score 23-20 in favor of the Hokies with 5:09 remaining in the first half, Virginia Tech went on a 15-5 run to close out the half. The Deacons were never able to erase the double-digit lead.
Key Stat: Virginia Tech shot 27-of-45 (60 percent) from the field, while the Deacs shot just 42.4 percent (25-of-59) on the night. The Hokies also connected on 66.7 percent (8-of-12) of their three-pointers for the game.
The Deacons dominated points in the paint, using their superior size to outscore the Hokies, 30-18, in that category. They also led in fast break points, 8-4, for the game.
Wake Forest went 0-for-9 from behind the arc in the first half and just 3-for-18 (16.7 percent) for the game, their second-lowest mark of the season in that category.
C.J. Harris, J.T. Terrell, Gary Clark, Travis McKie and Carson Desrosiers started together for the fifth consecutive game and the sixth time overall this season.
Wake Forest Individual Game Notes:
McKie scored 22 points, tying a career-best mark that he set earlier in the season at Elon. The freshman also led the Demon Deacons with nine rebounds.
Gary Clark hit 5-of-8 field goals to finish with 13 points.
