BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - Wake Forest came into Sunday's final round of the Bryan National Collegiate holding a slim one shot lead over Tennessee. The Demon Deacons improved upon that margin by carding the low round of the day on Sunday to win their home tournament for the first time since 2000.

On a day that saw no golfer shoot a round of even par or better, the No. 17-ranked Demon Deacons managed to be better than the rest of the competition. Wake finished Sunday's round with an 18-over 306, its highest round of the tournament. However, the Deacons were one shot better than the No. 16-ranked Lady Vols and six better than No. 22 North Carolina to hold them both at bay.

Wake Forest finished the weekend at 31-over, which was two strokes better than Tennessee who took home second place. UNC was third at +45, No. 7 Virginia fourth at +46 and No. 4 Duke fifth at +47.

The tournament title is the Deacons' first since winning the ACC Championship last spring. Wake Forest has now won at least one tournament in four-straight years, which stands as the second longest streak in school-history behind five-straight from 1992-93 through 1996-97.

Wake Forest also posted its first team title at the Bryan National, which the Deacons co-host annually with UNC Greensboro, since 2000.

Sophomore Michelle Shin paced the Deacons on the weekend, finishing in second place overall at five-over. Shin, who fired a four-over 76 on Sunday, was one shot behind Tennessee's Erica Popson for the individual title.

Senior Allie Bodemann picked a great time to turn in her low round of the season, as she carded a three-over 75 to lead the Deacons on Sunday. Bodemann, who was fifth on the team on both Friday and Saturday, finished the tournament tied for 44th at 20-over.

Senior Natalie Sheary and junior Cheyenne Woods finished tied for 12th at nine-over. Sheary fired a five-over 77 on Sunday, while Woods was at six-over 78 for the final round.

Junior Hunter Ross played as an individual this weekend and finished Saturday with a 15-over 87.
