Cooney then started Saturday's game and pitched a complete-game, the first of his career. In the nine innings, Cooney scattered nine hits and struck out seven without walking a batter. He was extremely efficient with his pitches, throwing 98 overall and 67 for strikes.
Mac Williamson homered on Sunday against Clemson to give Wake Forest a 2-0 lead in the top of the first. He continues to lead the team with eight home runs on the season, which also ranks him third in the ACC.
