Complete Golfweek All-America List
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Wake Forest junior Lee Bedford and sophomore Evan Beck have been named to the Golfweek honorable mention All-America team as announced last Friday.
This is the second-straight season that Bedford has earned All-America accolades while Beck takes home the honor for the first time in his career. Beck is the 42nd different Demon Deacon golfer to earn All-America honors. This is also the second-straight season that Wake has had a pair of All-Americans in the same season as Bedford was joined by Brendan Gielow last year.
The duo had very similar seasons as Beck finished with a 71.86 scoring average in 12 events while Bedford was close behind at 71.98 in 14 events. Those were the sixth and ninth-best averages in the ACC. Both players also recorded a total of 10 top-20 finishes.
Bedford started his year with a victory at the Carpet Capital Collegiate Classic after closing with rounds of 66-68 to finish at 10-under par. He finished a total of seven events this year under-par and picked-up his second victory of the season at the Irish Creek Collegiate in April. On the year, Bedford posted a team-best eight top-10 finishes and over 87 percent of his rounds counted towards the team score.
The Cary, NC, native also became the first Demon Deacon since Bill Haas in 2004 to qualify as an individual for the NCAA Championships. Bedford birdied the final hole of the NCAA Central Regional to earn his spot and then shot rounds of 74-73-75 to finish tied for 32nd at the finals.
Beck finished outside of the top-20 just twice in his 12 events and recorded a team-high five top-5 finishes. He played 21 of 36 rounds at par or better and had a string of six-straight rounds under-par over two events in the fall. The Virginia Beach, Va., native was the only player on the team to have all 36 of his rounds count towards the team score.
Both players also earned PING All-Region honors for their play at the NCAA Central Regional as well as first All-ACC honors.
