The 2011 Old Spice Classic, which features eight teams and 12 games over three days, is to be held Thanksgiving weekend, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, Nov. 24, 25 & 27, at HP Fieldhouse at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla.
The Demon Deacons and the Flyers will square off at 7 p.m. on ESPN2. Depending on a win or a loss, Wake Forest will then face Arizona State or Fairfield on Friday, Nov. 25, at either 5 p.m. (ESPN) or 7:30 p.m. (ESPNU).
The second four-team bracket includes Texas Tech vs. Indiana State and Minnesota vs. DePaul. Wake Forest will face one of those four squads on Sunday, Nov. 27.
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Dayton, 2-1. The teams have not met since the 1959-60 season when they split a pair of games. Wake downed UD, 80-71, on Dec. 28 at the Dixie Classic in Raleigh, but the Flyers upended the Deacons, 62-45, later that year in a matchup of top 20-ranked squads on Jan. 30 in Dayton.
Wake Forest has never faced Arizona State previously. Along with the Deacons, the Sun Devils participated in the 2008 76 Classic in Anaheim, but the two squads did not meet.
The Deacons are 3-0 all-time against Fairfield, including an 85-60 win at the Joel Coliseum in the 2007-08 season opener.
Wake Forest is 2-2 all-time against DePaul, 3-3 vs. Minnesota and 1-0 vs. Texas Tech. The Deacons have never faced Indiana State.
Notre Dame captured the Old Spice Classic title last season, beating Wisconsin 58-51 in the championship game. Previous champions include Arkansas in 2006, NC State in 2007, Gonzaga in 2008 and Florida State in 2009.
