WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's top women's doubles team of Kayla Duncan and Kathryn Talbert will head into dual match play ranked No. 20 by the ITA in its first rankings of the new year. The Demon Deacons came in at No. 62 in the season's first team rankings.
In addition to her doubles ranking, Duncan came in at No. 93 in the singles rankings after a strong fall season that saw her post an 8-3 record with two wins over ranked opponents.
The doubles team of Duncan and Talbert finished the fall at 9-3, winning the UVA Fall Invitational and reaching the semifinals of the ITA Carolina Regional. They were ranked No. 7 in September's preseason rankings, making them the highest-placed Wake Forest doubles team since 2002.
The Demon Deacons enter the dual match season looking to improve upon a 2011 campaign that saw them go 6-16 (0-11 ACC) and finish at No. 61 in the national rankings. Wake Forest will open 2012 at the UVA Duals, which run from Jan. 14-16, before returning for a home doubleheader on Jan. 22 against Georgia State (12 p.m.) and Winthrop (4:30 p.m.).
