WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest's senior closer Michael Dimock and junior starter Brian Holmes have each been named to different midseason watch lists for their performance during the 2012 season.
Dimock has earned a spot on the 2012 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Midseason Watch List, while Holmes is on the Pitcher of the Year Watch List, presented by the College Baseball Hall of Fame.
The NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award is given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I Baseball. Dimock has been a mainstay at the back of the Wake Forest bullpen for the past two seasons, and has recorded a career-best 10 saves already this year.
His 10 saves on the season are just two away from entering the Top 5 all-time at Wake Forest for a single season, while his 17 career saves are tied for the second most in school history with Keith Ksansnak (1983-86).
On the season, Dimock has a 2-2 record with a 4.13 ERA in 32.2 innings of work. He has thrown more innings than any other Demon Deacon reliever, and he has also appeared in more games (20) than any other Deacon hurler.
Holmes - who tossed Wake Forest's first no-hitter since 2000 back on March 4 against Marshall - has been the Demon Deacons' most consistent starter on the season with a 6-1 record and a .254 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .206 against Holmes, which ranks for the fifth-lowest opponent batting average in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Holmes has also struck out 61 batters in 60.1 innings of work and has given up just 17 earned runs. For his career, Holmes's ERA is 2.78, ranking eighth all-time in school history.
Dimock is one of just five ACC pitchers to be named to the Midseason Stopper of the Year Watch List, while Holmes is one of just six ACC pitchers to be named to the College Baseball Hall of Fame Midseason Pitcher of the Year Watch List.
