
Wake Forest Finishes 10th at ACC Championships

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. - Wake Forest's Nicole Irving and Samantha Jones finished 29th and 32nd, respectively, to lead the Demon Deacons to a 10th-place finish at the 2013 ACC Championships on a rainy Friday morning at Beeson Park.
Irving fell just short in her bid for a third-straight All-ACC performance. The senior finished the 6k course today in 21:30.7, eight spots back of earning all-conference.
Jones, a sophomore racing in her first conference meet, was not far behind finishing in 21:35.1 for 32nd.
Sophomores Kathleen Darling and Ashley Brubaker placed 63rd and 66th, respectively. Darling came across at 22:04.5, while Brubaker finished in 22:06.1
Graduate student Kristin Weisse rounded out the Deacons' scoring five, placing 68th overall in 22:07.4 in her first conference meet.
Serving as the meet host, Wake Forest finished with 246 points to finish 10th of 15 teams.
Florida State won its sixth-straight women's team title, finishing with 52 points to out-distance Virginia who placed second with 65 points.
Duke's Juliet Bottorff won the women's individual title in 20:05.9.
Wake Forest returns to action in two weeks at the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 15 in Charlottesville, Va.
