BATON ROUGE, La. - Wake Forest sophomore Marissa Dodd continues to play well as she opened the LSU Golf Classic on Friday with a round of 4-over 76 and is tied for 21st.
As a team, the Demon Deacons posted a round of 316 and are in 11th place in the 14-team field.
Dodd made a pair of birdies on her front nine but would only make one par and was 6-over at the turn. She then bogeyed No. 11 to slip to 7-over but a birdie at No. 12 kicked-started a 3-under par finish and she finished with a 76.
Junior Olafia Kristinsdottir carded three birdies in her round of 7-over 79 on Friday and is tied for 46th. Sophomore Allison Emrey made three birdies on her inward nine and posted an opening-round 80.
Freshman Mariana Sims finished just one shot behind Emrey as she carded a 9-over 81. Senior Greta Lange rounded out the Deacon scorers with a round of 85. Sophomore Emily Wright, who is playing as an individual, shot an opening round 80 and is tied for 52nd.
There is a three-way tie at the top of the individual leaderboard as Gabriela Lopez (Arkansas), Erica Popson (Tennessee) and Maribel Lopez-Porras (Tulane) all shot rounds of 1-under 71. That group leads a quartet of players who are at even-par.
In the team race, Arkansas carded a round of 5-over par and leads Tulane by five shots.
The second round will start with a 9:30 a.m. ET shotgun start. The Deacs are paired with Mississippi and Georgia and will start between holes 11 and 13. Golfstat.com will have live scoring of the final two rounds.
