BROWN SUMMIT, N.C. - The Wake Forest women's golf team shot its lowest round of the season on Sunday, a 1-over 289, and finished in third place at the Bryan National Collegiate.

The Deacs came into the day in a tie for sixth place but steady play in wet conditions allowed the team to rise into a season-best finish. Wake was 21-over for the tournament which was also their best finish in relation to par this year.

Wake Forest got a number of good rounds on Sunday but none bigger than senior Greta Lange's 3-under 69. That was the lowest round of her Demon Deacon career by four shots. Sophomore Emily Wright also enjoyed a solid week playing as an individual. She carded rounds of 77-75-76 to finished tied for 50th at 12-over par. The 228 54-hole total is the lowest of Wright's career.

Virginia opened the tournament with a 7-under 281 and would hold on over the final two days for a four-shot victory at 5-over par. Arkansas finished second at 9-over.

Georgia's Emilie Burger played her final five holes on Sunday at 4-under par, including an eagle-2 at the par-4 17th, to claim individual honors at 5-under par. She was one shot better than Brittany Altomare of Virginia who finished at 4-under.
