WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest will look to gain some momentum heading into next week's ACC Tournament when the Demon Deacons host the Virginia Tech Hokies on Sunday afternoon in Winston-Salem. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the Lawrence Joel Coliseum.
The Deacons will be looking to avenge a heartbreaking 66-65 loss in Blacksburg on Jan. 19.
Where to Watch & Listen
Sunday's game will be televised on the ACC Network. Steve Martin (play-by-play) and Cory Alexander (color) will call the action.
The game can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network and online at WakeForestSports.com. Stan Cotten (play-by-play) and Mark Freidinger (color) have the call.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest is coming off an 81-66 loss at NC State on Wednesday in Raleigh. The Wolfpack used a 13-0 run in the first half to take control, and the Deacons could not come back from a 15-point halftime deficit.
Devin Thomas battled his way to his third double-double of the season and his second against the Wolfpack, finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds on Wednesday. Thomas had 25 points and 14 rebounds in Wake Forest's 86-84 win over State in late January.
Madison Jones scored 10 points on 5-of-8 shooting and also dished out a season-high six assists. Jones started at point guard in place of Codi Miller-McIntyre, who missed the trip with strep throat.
Travis McKie scored 12 points on 6-of-11 shooting, while Chase Fischer and C.J. Harris finished with nine points apiece on the night.
The Opposition
Virginia Tech (13-17, 4-13 ACC) is coming off an 85-57 loss at Duke on Tuesday in Durham. The Hokies feature the nation's leading scorer in senior Erick Green, who is averaging 25.0 points per game on the season.
Series History
Virginia Tech leads the all-time series with Wake Forest, 29-27, including a 66-65 win in Blacksburg on Jan. 19. The series dates back to the 1911-12 season as the teams were longtime non-conference rivals.
The Deacons snapped a five-game losing streak to the Hokies with their 58-55 win in Winston-Salem last season.
Next Up...
Wake Forest will take its shot at an ACC championship, as the 60th annual ACC Tournament is set for March 14-17 in Greensboro, N.C. The Deacons' last two Tournament titles, back-to-back championships in 1995 and 1996, came at the Greensboro Coliseum.
The official bracket and Tournament seedings will be released by the conference office on Sunday evening.
