Deacs Finish 7th At ACC Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Sophomore Marissa Dodd and freshman Mariana Sims each notched top-10 finishes as the Wake Forest women's golf team finished in seventh place at the ACC Women's Golf Championship Sunday afternoon at the Sedgefield Country Club.
The third round was played under similar conditions to the first two as a steady breezy made pulling the right club difficult. Wake finished with a final round score of 311 and was 73-over for the event. Duke had four players finish in the top-6 and cruised to a 24-shot victory which was its second-straight title.
Sims made 14 pars in her final round 73 which was her second-lowest round as a Demon Deacon. It also was tied for the second-lowest round of the day. Sims and Dodd, who carded a final round 78, finished in a tie for 10th at 14-over for the tournament.
Junior Olafia Kristinsdottir carded rounds of 77-78-79 to finish in a tie for 25th at 21-over while a final round 83 left sophomore Allison Emrey in a tie 35th at 26-over. Senior Greta Lange rounded-out the Deacon five with rounds of 84-86-81.
Virginia's Brittany Altomare was the steadiest players in the field all weekend, making 42 pars in 54 holes en route to claiming medalist honors. She finished with a three-day total of 4-over 217 which was two-shots better than Duke's Laetitia Beck.
The Demon Deacons will now wait to find out their regional fate as the NCAA Women's Golf Regional announcement is set for Monday, April 29 at 9 p.m.
