Several Deacs Highlight Day Two of Auburn Tiger Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - The Wake Forest track and field team finished up competition on Saturday in the 2013 Tiger Classic hosted by Auburn University.
The mid-distance duo of Thomas Bojanowski and Kyle Eager finished strong in the 800m run, finishing second (1:49.81) and third (1:50.67), respectively. Both runners recorded new personal best times. Junior Kyle Graves came in soon after his teammates earning a sixth place finish (1:51.16) and a new personal best time of his own.
Graves shined in the 3,000m run as well placing second overall and shattering his personal best performance with a time of 8:21.78. Conner Crowley and Brian O'Toole also recorded new personal bests as they achieved third (8:37.13) and fourth (8:40.24) place, respectively, to round off the strong Wake Forest distance effort.
Senior Jake Graham led the Deacons in the 3,000-meter steeplechase placing third. The senior posted a new personal best time of 9:14.95 in the process. Nate Guthals grabbed fourth position (9:19.84) en route to a new personal best time of his own.
On the women's side of the event, Katie Adair broke the school record that she previously set in the pole vault recording a measure of 13-01.50 (4.00m) and grabbing the sixth place finish. In the high jump invite, Nyki Caldwell landed on the podium for the fourth straight weekend of competition as the sophomore leaped for 5-09.75 (1.77m) and took home a third place finish.
Katelyin Oliver paced her way to a second place finish in the 3,000-meter run, and did so with a time of 9:52.78. Aubrey Waggoner followed close behind grabbing the fourth place finish (10:06.84) and a new personal best time along the way. Kathleen Darling placed tenth (10:36.29).
Senior Erin Brooks represented the Deacons well in the long jump landing a seventh place finish (18-10.75).
The Deacons will pick up where they left off on Friday, April 12th at the Aggie Invitation that will be taking place in Greensboro, N.C.
Women's Pole Vault
Freshman Sydney White earned 11th place after reaching a height of 12-03.50 (3.75m).
Women's Long Jump
Junior Erika Martin placed 26th with a mark of 16-11.25 (5.16m).
Women's 200m Dash
Barr and Dekine teamed up again and finished with times of 25.15 and 25.35, respectively. Brooks crossed the finish line at the 26.53 mark.
Women's 400m Dash
Seniors Myesha Barr and Brianna Dekine finished neck-and-neck claiming 19th (56.63) and 20th (56.71) place. Barr broke her previous best time of 57.00 in the process.
Women's 400m Hurdles
Junior Allison Johnson and sophomore Montasia Golden claimed 18th (1:03.84) and 19th (1:03.99) place, respectively.
Women's 800m Run
Sophomore Aubrey Waggoner was the first Deacons across the finish line shattering her previous best personal time with a 2:18.10 finish. Freshman Kendal Knous followed finishing at 2:20.40.
Men's 100m Dash
Mastanduno was the lone representative of Wake Forest and finished at the 11.22 mark.
Men's 110m Hurdles
Junior Malcolm Nunley crossed the finish line after recording a time of 15.72.
Men's 200m Dash
Mastanduno sprinted to a new personal best time of 22.59 as he was the lone Deacon competing.
Men's 400m Dash
Sophomore Daniel Harrison paced himself to a 15th place finish (48.39).
Men's 400m Hurdles
Nunley was the lone representative of the Deacons and finished with a time of 54.94.
Men's 800m Run
Freshman Ryan Horgan followed behind the pack of upperclassmen and claimed a 33rd place finish (1:56.60).
Men 1500m Run
Freshman Ryan Horgan sped a twelfth place finish and was just of his personal best pace finishing at 3:58.51.
Men's Shot Put
Freshman Steve Michaelsen tossed for a new personal best 51-09.00 (15.77m) en route to 15th place.
Men's Hammer Throw
Michaelsen tossed his way to a 14th place finish covering a distance of 154-02 (46.43m).
Men's Long Jump
Mastanduno leapt to an 18th place finish covering a distance of 21-05.25 (6.53m).
4x 400m Relay
Both teams represented by Wake claimed tenth place. On the women's side, Barr, Golden, Knous, and Dekine achieved a 3:49.089 finish and were barely edged out by Appalachian State by .004. The men's team was comprised of Nunley, Bojanowski, Eager, and Harrison sped to a 3:17.53.
