WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest junior Olafia Kristinsdottir is set to compete this week in the NCAA Women's Golf Championship at the University of Georgia Golf Club in Athens, Ga.
Kristinsdottir earned a spot in the championship by securing one of the two individual qualifying spots two weeks ago at the NCAA Central Regional in Norman, Okla. The Iceland native shot a career-best 54-hole total of 1-under 215 and finished in a tie for eighth.
For the year, Kristinsdottir is averaging 75.8 over 10 tournaments and has a pair of top-10 finishes. Her final round 69 at the NCAA Regional was her lowest round of the year.
Kristinsdottir is the sixth Demon Deacon to qualifying individually for the NCAA Championship and the first since Marta Prieto in 2001. Prieto also holds the school-record for best finish as she finished third at 4-over par in 2000.
Kristinsdottir will tee off at 8:28 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday mornings while starting at 12:48 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday afternoon. Golfstat.com will have live scoring of all four rounds.
