CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Senior Tommy Ross finished 25th overall to lead Wake Forest to a fifth-place finish at the Royals Challenge on Saturday morning at McAlpine Creek Park.

Ross completed the 8k course in 25:57.07 to pace a Wake Forest squad that did not feature its full lineup. The Demon Deacons chose to rest a number of runners with meets scheduled on four consecutive weekends.

Fellow senior Billy Fayette led a pack of Deacons behind Ross. Fayette placed 34th in 26:12.86.

Freshmen Andrew Fea and Charles Shackelford were right behind Fayette in 35th and 36th respectively. Fea finished in 26:13.65 and Shackelford in 26:19.62.

Freshmen Sebastian Fischbach rounded out Wake Forest's scoring five in 61st with a time of 27:03.50.

Junior Evan Little was 68th in 27:15.42.

The Deacons will race again next Friday at the Blue Ridge Open in Boone, N.C. Wake Forest will then have a weekend off before competing at the ACC Championships on Halloween morning in Earlysville, Va.
