GREENSBORO, N.C. - After scoring two goals, including the game-winner in overtime in No. 16 Wake Forest's 4-3 upset win over No. 8 Boston College on Friday, senior Anna Kozniuk has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Co-Player of the Week.
Louisville junior midfielder Elisa Garcia was the other player to share player of the week honors with Kozniuk after the Cardinals' 2-1 upset win over No. 4 Duke.
Kozniuk led the Demon Deacons to a win over No. 8 Boston College, the first conference victory of the season for Wake Forest. Against the Eagles, the native of North Vancouver, Canada, scored the first of the match for the Demon Deacons at 22:48 to tie it at 1-1. In overtime, she took a pass from Jess Newak and scored the game-winner to give Wake Forest the 4-3 victory.
She currently has a team-high 10 goals, which is tied for the best mark in the ACC. Kozniuk is also second in the conference in goals per game with 0.83 and is tied for fifth with 21 total points. She now has three two-goal games this season with the first two coming in wins against Davidson (Sept. 7) and Richmond (Sept. 21).
Wake Forest hosts the No. 1-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels on Thursday at 5 p.m. for a non-conference matchup at Kentner Stadium. The match will be broadcast on RSN and ESPN3.
