
Wake Forest Falls Short of Missouri 79-64

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Missouri Tigers defeated Wake Forest 79-64 on Saturday afternoon at the LJVM Coliseum.
Freshman Amber Campbell led Wake Forest (7-5) with 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Mykia Jones added 13 points and freshman Nicole Floyd chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.
Sierra Sims led Missouri with 21 points off the bench and Jordan Frericks scored 20 points with nine rebounds.
Wake Forest erased an early 9-0 deficit with solid defense late in the first half. Ataijah Taylor drained a jumper with 1:35 left in the opening half to tie the game, 29-29. On the next possession Dearica Hamby was fouled pulling down an offensive rebounds. She stepped up to the line and made both free throws to give the Demon Deacons their first lead of the game, 31-29. Jones also sank two from the foul line in the final minute to send Wake Forest to the locker room with a 33-32 lead.
Missouri scored the first four points of the second half to take a 36-33 lead. Floyd hit her second three pointer of the game to briefly tie it up, 36-36, before the Tigers went ahead 40-36. The Demon Deacons kept it close, trailing by one, 47-48, with 10:37 remaining after a trey from Jones. Wake Forest went without a field goal for the next three minutes, allowing the Tigers to open up a 62-50 lead. Mizzou maintained at least an eight-point lead for the rest of the game en route to the 79-64 victory.
Wake Forest's first five made field goals of the game were from beyond the three-point line. The Demon Deacons made a season-high 10 three pointers in the game.

Wake Forest will wrap up non-conference play with home games against American and Western Carolina.
American will come to LJVM Coliseum on Dec. 28 for a 2 p.m. start.
This will be the first-ever meeting between Wake Forest and American.
