Sims Paces Deacs In Round Two of Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Sophomore Mariana Sims carded a 72 and Wake Forest posted a 302 in the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Saturday at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
As a team, the Demon Deacons are in 11th place in the strong 17-team field at 33-over par after rounds of 299 and 302. After opening with an even-par round on Friday, Duke posted a 7-over 291 and holds an eight-shot lead over Vanderbilt.
Mariana Sims birdied three of her final five holes on Saturday to post a 1-over 72. She made a total of four birdies in the round. Coupled with her 74 on Friday, Sims is tied for 13th at 4-over par.
Junior Allison Emrey and redshirt-freshman Elizabeth Doty, who is playing as an individual, are both tied for 16th through two rounds at 5-over par. Emrey has carded rounds of 73-74 while Doty has matched her with scores of 74-73.
Freshman Sierra Sims made a pair of birdies on Saturday and carded her second-straight round of 77. She heads into the final round in a tie for 57th at 12-over par.
Junior Marissa Dodd and senior Olafia Kristinsdottir each posted rounds of 8-over 79 on Saturday. Dodd is tied with Sierra Sims at 12-over par after opening with a 75 yesterday.
First round leader Stephanie Meadow clings to a one-shot lead in the individual race as she followed her 67 on Friday with an even-par 72 on Saturday.
Wake Forest starts the final round off the 10th tee at 9:30 a.m. with Stanford and Tennessee. Golfstat.com will have live scoring of the final round.
