HUTCHINSON, Kan. - After another day of start and stop golf, Wake Forest junior Cyrus Stewart finds himself even-par midway through the final round of the NCAA Men's Golf Championship.
Stewart, who is eight-over par for the championship, played a total of 25 holes on Sunday. He started his second round at 10 a.m. and made it four holes before being halted by lightning in the area. After the restart, Stewart would finish the second round with a 2-over 72. He made two birdies and four bogeys.
The players then got a short break before starting the final round with a shotgun start at 5:40 p.m. ET. Stewart started on the second hole and would card one birdie and one bogey through seven holes. Play was again halted by lightning at 7:45 p.m. ET and will be restarted at 8:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning.
The stroke-play portion of the championship was originally schedule for 72 holes. But all of the severe weather has forced tournament officials to shorten the individual championship to 54 holes. The top-8 teams at the end of 54 holes on Monday will then advance to match play to determine the team champion.
Golf Channel will have live coverage of the NCAA Championship the next three days from 5-8 p.m. ET.
