CLE ELUM, Wash. - On a tough day for scoring, the Wake Forest women's golf team carded a round of 303 and moved up to 10th place through two rounds of the NCAA West Regional.

The Demon Deacons are 31-over for the tournament and just two shots behind Iowa State in 8th place. The top-8 teams at the end of Saturday's final round will earn a trip to the NCAA Championship.

Freshman Sierra Sims birdied three of her final six holes on Friday to lead the Deacons with a 1-over 73. Those were her only three birdies of the day. Sims is tied for 20th through two rounds at 5-over par.

Junior Allison Emrey is just a shot behind Sims at 6-over after her second-straight 75. Emrey started and ended her day with a pair of birdies. She is tied for 25th.

Senior Olafia Kristinsdottir and junior Marissa Dodd are each tied for 62nd at 11-over par with a round to play. Like Emrey, Kristinsdottir birdied her first and last holes to post a 76 on Friday. Dodd had an opening round 76 but came with 79 in round two.

Redshirt-freshman Elizabeth Doty capped the Deacon scorers on Friday with a round of 80. She is tied for 74th through two rounds.

Arizona State shot the lowest round of the day, a 1-over 289, and moved into a tie with Southern Cal at 2-over par. The top four teams seem to be secure but the next six teams are all separated by just nine shots.

The Deacons will start the final round off the tenth tee at 10:30 a.m. ET. Wake is paired with UC Davis and GRU Augusta. Follow the final round on Golfstat.com.
