WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest field hockey team will start the season ranked No. 11 as the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) preseason poll was released Tuesday afternoon.
In addition, senior Anna Kozniuk and graduate student Georgia Holland have been named to the Preseason All-ACC Team. Wake Forest was also picked fifth in the annual preseason ACC coaches' poll, garnering 16 points.
The Deacs finished the 2013 season ranked No. 13 in the poll after finishing the season in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. Head coach Jennifer Averill assembles a team that returns 16 players from last season.
Holland headlines the team's five additions this year. Holland, a graduate student at Wake Forest, joins the team after transferring from Yale University.
The Demon Deacons open the regular season at the ACC/Big Ten Challenge on Saturday at 2 p.m. as they face the No. 20-ranked Iowa Hawkeyes in Chapel Hill, N.C.
