
Abrahamson Wins Wake Forest Invitational

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. – Demon Deacon junior Ellie Abrahamson finished first as the Deacs finished third in a 17-team field at the Wake Forest Invitational at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C. Friday afternoon.
The 6K race was the last of the regular season for Wake Forest.
Abrahamson's win was the first of her career and was the first by a Deacon runner since Samantha Jones won the 2014 Queens University Royals Challenge. She completed the race with a time of 21:18.42.
Following Abrahamson was Kathryn Lazarchick, who also earned a top-10 nod at No. 9. Jenna Truedson, Beatrice Boylan and Gabby Merritt rounded out the scoring five for the Deacs with finishes of 18th, 33rd and 39th, respectively.
Wake Forest had an average time of 22:16.23 as a team.
Following a week off next week, the Demon Deacons will head to Tallahassee, Fla. Oct. 30 for the ACC Championships.
