Mitoglou Named ACC Rookie of the Week

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest freshman forward Konstantinos Mitoglou has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday afternoon.
He is the first Demon Deacon to receive Rookie of the Week honors since Devin Thomas in 2013. The Thessaloniki, Greece, native averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 63 percent (12-for-19) from 3-point range in Wake Forest's two games last week.
In Wednesday's 72-70 win over Miami, Mitoglou scored 21 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 6-for-7 from 3-point range. He also pulled down a team-best eight rebounds, including four offensive, on the night.
In Saturday's 61-60 loss at No. 2-ranked Virginia, Mitoglou once again led the team with 18 points. He was 6-for-14 from the field and 6-for-12 from 3-point range. His 3-pointer with 40 seconds remaining in the game cut the Virginia lead to one. Mitoglou added three rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes of action.
On the season, Mitoglou is averaging 9.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game while shooting 40 percent from 3-point range. He is 21-for-36 (58 percent) from 3-point range in the past five games.
The Deacons are back in action on the road tomorrow night as they take on the No. 10-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Tip-off for Wake Forest's first-ever game at Notre Dame is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Purcell Pavilion. The game will be televised nationally on ESPNU and can also be heard on the Wake Forest IMG Sports Network.
