GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest junior Romain Bogaerts was named the ACC Player of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday morning.
The Belgium native guided the Demon Deacons to their fourth and fifth consecutive victories, including a win over No. 32-ranked Oklahoma State.
With doubles tied 1-1, Bogaerts and Keivon Tabrizi held off Oklahoma State's Tristan Meraut and Jurence Mendoza, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point for Wake Forest.
In singles action, the Demon Deacons held a 3-2 advantage when Bogaerts claimed a pair of tiebreaks to defeat No. 87-ranked Arjun Kadhe, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (7) to seal the match victory.
Bogaerts, ranked No. 21 nationally, holds a 10-5 record in singles action, including a winning record against nationally-ranked foes. He is also 5-2 in doubles action this season.
His victories helped Wake Forest move up to No. 12 in the national rankings, the highest since holding a No. 11 ranking early in the 2008 season.
He is the second Demon Deacon to receive the honor this year, as Christian Seraphim earned the recognition two weeks ago.
