WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest wrapped up an undefeated weekend with a doubleheader sweep, knocking off Towson, 15-8, and Marshall, 8-3, at Gene Hooks Field at Wake Forest Baseball Park on Sunday.

The Demon Deacon offense erupted for 23 runs and 30 hits over the doubleheader, turning in a total of nine multi-hit efforts. Justin Yurchak was the one Deacon to earn multiple hits in each game as he finished the day 5-for-8 with two RBIs.

While the offense was lighting up the scoreboard, the Wake Forest (8-4) bullpen turned in a much-improved effort. In 11.2 innings, the seven relievers combined to allow three earned runs - two of which came when the Deacs had a nine-run ninth-inning lead.

In total over the four weekend games, Wake Forest outscored its opponents 36-16.

Wake Forest 15, Towson 8
Nate Mondou, Justin Yurchak, Nick Bisplinghoff and Drew Freedman each totaled at least three hits and two RBIs to lead Wake Forest in an offensive outburst to defeat Towson (0-7).

The Tigers came to life with six fourth-inning runs to take a 6-1 lead, but Wake Forest stormed back with 14 consecutive runs to put the game out of reach.

Wake Forest's comeback was sparked by Kevin Jordan, who cleared the bases with a three-run double into the left-field corner, cutting the margin to 6-4, before he later scored on a Mondou single.

Five different Deacons had RBIs during an eight-run seventh-inning, which was capped off by a two-run triple from Mondou, Wake Forest's first three-bagger of the season.

Bisplinghoff and Joey Rodriguez knocked in RBIs in the eighth inning to push the score to 15-6.

Donnie Sellers, Paul Kirkpatrick and Andrew Culp combined to retire 15 straight Tiger hitters. By tossing 2.0 perfect innings, Kirkpatrick (1-0) earned the win in relief.

Wake Forest 8, Marshall 3
Marshall jumped out to a 2-0 lead, utilizing a leadoff homer, double and RBI groundout to burst out to a first-inning advantage.

Kevin Conway, (3-for-5, 2 runs scored) and Jonathan Pryor started things off right away for the Deacons with back-to-back singles. They eventually came around to score on RBI groundouts from Mondou and Will Craig to even the score at 2-all.

In the third inning, it was Bruce Steel and Conway leading off with back-to-back hits, setting up another RBI groundout from Mondou.

Ben Breazeale blasted a moonshot over the center-field wall for his first career home run in the fourth to extend the lead to 4-2.

Craig and Breazeale each added RBI singles in the fifth and Stuart Fairchild smacked a two-run double in the seventh to round out the Demon Deacon scoring.

Aaron Fossas (1-0) earned the win as the Wake Forest starter, throwing 3.0 innings on a pitch count.

Connor Johnstone, Max Tishman, Parker Johnson and John McCarren teamed up to allow one run over the final 6.0 innings.

NO ROOKIE NERVES
Nick Bisplinghoff made his first-career start in the first game to give Ben Breazeale a game off behind the plate, and made the most of his opportunity.
• He had a pair of RBI singles and finished with three hits. Behind the plate, he did not record a passed ball and the only wild pitch for Wake Forest came in the ninth inning.

RBI MACHINES
• With two RBIs against Marshall, Will Craig kept up his impressive RBI pace to start the year, as he now has 17 in 12 games.
• Teammate Nate Mondou did his part in catching up on Sunday, knocking in five over the two-game span to bring his total to 13, also more than one per game.

SWIPED
• The Demon Deacons have excelled on the basepaths, stealing 17 bases on 18 attempts.
Stuart Fairchild stole his team-leading fifth bag, as the Deacs were successful on all five attempts Sunday.
Will Craig and Kevin Jordan earned their first steals of the season.

ON DECK
• Wake Forest is scheduled to travel to UNC Greensboro on Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game. Then, the Demon Deacons return home to open ACC play with a three-game series against Virginia Tech from March 6-8.
