Last Time Out >>
Wake Forest utilized two more home runs and strong pitching from a plethora of underclassmen to defeat UConn, 6-2, on Tuesday night.
The Huskies (10-7) mustered two runs on just five hits against the Wake Forest pitching staff which featured three freshman, a redshirt-freshman and a sophomore.
Will Craig and Nate Mondou each hit home runs, while Keegan Maronpot delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the sixth to give Wake Forest the lead for good.
Andrew Loepprich made his first-career start and second-career outing, tossing 3.0 scoreless innings, striking out four while allowing one hit and a pair of walks.
Five For Five >>
Senior starting pitcher Matt Pirro has won each of his first five starts, currently holding a 5-0 record, 2.51 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 28.2 innings, allowing opponents to hit just .194.
He is one of just eight pitchers in the nation with five wins, and the only ACC hurler to reach that mark.
In his last start against No. 18 Florida State, he started and helped halt the Seminoles' 14-0 home record and 11-game winning streak as the Demon Deacons won 4-1.
Series History >>
Miami holds a commanding 30-8 lead in the all-time series.
The Demon Deacons won their first series in 2013, taking two out of three at home.
The teams did not play a year ago.
On Deck >>
Wake Forest hits the road for four of the next five games. The Deacons travel to App State on Tuesday before returning home against Charlotte on Wednesday.
