NEW LONDON, N.C. - Wake Forest finished eighth at the 2015 ACC Men's Golf Championship at the Old North State Club. The Demon Deacons were led by top-15 finishes from junior Davis Womble and freshman Will Zalatoris.

Wake Forest followed an opening round 299 with back-to-back rounds of 285 to finish the tournament 5-over in eighth place. Georgia Tech won the 2015 Championship after a two-hole playoff with Clemson. Both teams were 19-under, one stroke ahead of Florida State.

Womble tied for 11th and Zalatoris tied for 14th to give the Demon Deacons two in the top 15 for the first time since the 2010 ACC Championship. In 2010 Brendan Gielow finished sixth and Travis Wadkins came in 13th.

Womble fired the second-lowest round of the day by any individual with a 4-under 68. The junior birdied three of the first four holes and countered a bogey on 14 with a birdie on 15. He made the turn at 3-under and promptly birdied the first hole. He played the final eight holes at even par to card a 68 and jump up to 11th place. He finished 3-under for the weekend with improvement every round (73-72-68).

Zalatoris tied for 14th at 2-under for the championship. The rookie was 2-over coming in to the final hole and birdied nine to drop to 1-over for the day. With the 2-under finished he has now finished under par in every tournament this season.

Danny Guise battled back after an opening-round 81 to fire a 3-under 69 on Sunday. The sophomore finished 5-over (81-71-69) in 33rd place. Guise made the turn at 1-under and birdied the first two holes to drop to 3-under with seven holes to play. He was even par the remainder of the round to complete an impressive comeback.

Freshman Tanner Owen was 4-over on Sunday and 8-over for the tournament while freshman Paul McBride came in 3-over in the final round and 10-over on the weekend.

Georgia Tech's Anders Albertson, Louisville's Robin Sciot-Siegrist, and Virginia Tech's Trevor Cone shot 11-under par for the weekend and were named co-champions.

Wake Forest will await the NCAA Regional selection show Monday, May 4. The regional sites for 2015 are Bremerton, Wash., New Haven, Conn., San Diego, Calif., Lubbock, Texas, Noblesville, Ind. and Chapel Hill, N.C.
