GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest's Will Zalatoris was named the ACC Freshman of the Year, the league announced Monday.
Zalatoris is the fourth Demon Deacon to earn ACC Men's Golf Freshman of the Year honors, joining Justin Roof (1994), Bill Haas (2001) and Webb Simpson (2005). Zalatoris also earned a spot on the All-ACC Men's Golf team. The Demon Deacons have now had at least one member on the All-ACC team every year since 1999.
A native of Plano, Texas, he won one event and placed in the top 10 in five of nine events during his rookie campaign. Zalatoris finished under par in every event this season and tied for the ACC lead with a 69.9 stroke average this season. He is the highest ranked freshman according to Golfstat at No. 14.
