TUCSON, Ariz. - For the first time in more than a decade, Wake Forest has a pair of All-American honorees.
Will Craig and Nate Mondou were tabbed as Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-Americans by the Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
"Nate Mondou and Will Craig are the best 3-4 lineup combination in the country, but more importantly, they set the bar in our program for character, work ethic and leadership," head coach Tom Walter said. "We are thrilled that they are receiving the type of national recognition that they deserve."
Craig was selected to the First Team, becoming the first Demon Deacon to receive that honor since Jamie D'Antona in 2003.
The first baseman on the All-American First Team, Craig finished his season with a .382 average, 20 doubles, 13 homers and 58 RBIs, along with 41 walks and just 24 strikeouts.
He was also the ACC Player of the Year, a Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist, Midseason Player of the Year and on the Golden Spikes Award watch list.
Mondou claims Third Team All-American honors as a second baseman. The sophomore hit .338 with 18 doubles, 10 homers and 57 RBIs as Wake Forest's No. 3 hitter in the lineup.
He also was named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week during the season and picked up First Team All-ACC honors.
The last time Wake Forest had two first, second or third-team All-American honorees in the same year was 2003, when D'Antona was joined by Kyle Sleeth.
Wake Forest was one of three ACC programs with multiple selections, joined by Clemson and Louisville.
