Dearica Hamby selected in the WKBL Korean Draft

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Wake Forest women's basketball's Dearica Hamby was one of 12 players selected in the Korean WKBL draft this week.
Hamby was the ninth player selected in WKBL foreigner draft that took place on Tuesday. She was chosen by the KB Stars, located in in Cheongiu, South Korea. Hamby was one of 12 total players selected out of 85 applicants. The WKBL season begins in late October and runs through March.
Hamby is currently in her rookie season with the WNBA's San Antonio Stars. She has started all 14 games this season and is averaging 9.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Hamby was the first Demon Deacon ever selected in the WNBA Draft. The 6-3 forward rewrote the Wake Forest record book and became the program's all-time leading scorer (1,801 points) and rebounder (1,021 rebounds). She was also the first Deacon to be named first team All-ACC twice in her career. She earned All-America honorable mention honors from both the WBCA and Associated Press this season.
