The Butler transfer is Wake Forest’s sixth newcomer set to join the 2026-27 roster.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball program and head coach Megan Gebbia announced the signing of rising redshirt sophomore Mckenzie Swanson on Tuesday.
Competing as a forward, Swanson spent the last two years at Butler following a standout high school career in Michigan where she was recognized as one the state's top prospects.
Swanson is the sixth scholarship addition to the 2026-27 roster overall and the Deacs' second transfer, joining Cincinnati guard/forward Ramiyah Byrd. Four freshmen make up the team's incoming 2026 signing class:
Mckenzie Swanson | F | 6-3 | Rochester, Mich. | Butler University
Why Wake Forest
"I chose Wake Forest because it's a special place built on high standards, purpose and the chance to be part of something bigger than yourself. I'm excited to help build something special and leave my mark." – Mckenzie Swanson
From Coach Gebbia
"I am very excited to add Mckenzie to our roster, as she is very passionate about the game and is a valuable piece to help bolster our core of frontcourt players. She brings an inside physical presence coupled with the ability to shoot and attack from the perimeter. Her rebounding and low post defense were areas we were looking to add and she helps check those boxes. Being a part of the Big East the past few years will allow her to transition well into ACC play and we look forward to integrating her along with her new teammates."
