Helena Danielewicz, a versatile wing from Poland, has a wealth of experience at the club and international level including being a member of the senior national team for 2027 EuroBasket Qualifying.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest women's basketball head coach Megan Gebbia announced the signing of incoming freshman forward Helena Danielewicz from Poland on Friday.
Danielewicz becomes the fourth member of the incoming freshman class. Gebbia and the Deacs have also signed Nigerian center Awele Okoh last Friday, the Demon Deacons inked guard Oshauna Holland in November and the recently signed guard Adora Nwude on last Wednesday.
Additionally, it is the fifth scholarship addition to the 2026-27 roster overall as the Deacs also added Cincinnati guard/forward Ramiyah Byrd last Friday.
Danielewicz comes to Wake Forest with a vast amount of international experience including most recently competing for the Polish senior national team in the EuroBasket 2027 qualifying round.
Throughout her youth career, Danielewicz has been one of the best players in all of Poland. Most recently, she was named MVP at the 2025 Polish U17 National Championship Final Tournament, posting a 26-point, 12-rebound, 10-assist triple-double as she helped lead her team to the national title.

"I chose Wake Forest because of its strong combination of academic excellence and high-level athletics. The university provides an environment where I can develop both as a student and as an athlete. I was also impressed by the coaching staff, team culture and the opportunities for personal growth on and off the court." - Helena Danielewicz
From Coach Gebbia
"Helena is a very versatile wing but that can help us in a lot of different areas. She is great with the ball in her hands, understanding how and when to distribute the ball but also knows when to go and score herself. Her athleticism will help us in the open floor so we can run and attack disadvantages. On the defensive end of the floor, her fluidity and length will allow her to guard a number of positions and it will enable us to be creative in how we guard other teams. We have enjoyed getting to build a relationship with not only Helena but her entire family throughout the process and we look forward to getting her here this summer."
