Wake Forest Travels to VCU, William & Mary
• The Demon Deacons kick off a string of five-consecutive road matches this week with a match at VCU on Saturday and a trip to No. 42 William & Mary on Sunday.
• Saturday's contest will begin at noon, while Sunday's match, Wake Forest's second against a ranked foe this season, will start at 1 p.m.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest swept both Elon and Furman, 7-0, last weekend at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex. The Deacs improved to 5-0 on the year, including 4-0 at home.
• The Deacs won all of their matches in both singles and doubles on the day (No. 1 doubles did not finish against Elon).
• Kimmy Guerin, Emma Davis, Anna Ulyashchenko, Joanna Zalewski and Sam Asch each won twice in singles and Luisa Fernandez and Xue Zhang each won a match at the No 6 spot. Guerin, Zalewski and Asch are each 5-0 in singles on the spring.
Hot Start
• The Deacs are 5-0 for the seventh time in program history and for the second time in the last three seasons.
• A win over VCU would give Wake Forest its third 6-0 start and two wins this weekend would give the Demon Deacons their second 7-0 start, matching their longest win streak to begin a season. The 2014 Deacs set a school record by winning their first seven matches.
All-time Series
• The Demon Deacons have winning records against both VCU and William & Mary.
• Wake Forest is 4-3 against the Rams with wins against them in each of the last two seasons. The teams have split two matches in Richmond.
• The Deacs are 19-16 versus William & Mary, including 10-8 in Williamsburg. A win over the Tribe Sunday would give Wake Forest 20 all-time wins against seven different schools (adding to NC State, Maryland, Furman, Virginia Tech, Virginia and Georgia Tech).
In the Rankings
• The Wake Forest women's tennis team is 64th in the national rankings, moving up seven spots from its season-opening rank of No. 71.
• The doubles duo of Andrea Retolaza Andrade and Luisa Fernandez was slotted No. 51 in the doubles preseason poll. They are No. 7 in the Carolina Region.
• Anna Ulyashchenko (No. 8), Emma Davis (No. 11) and Samantha Asch (No. 17) are ranked in singles in the Carolina Region. The Deacs' three regionally ranked players is a first for the team since the ITA went from eight to 12 regions in 2009-2010.
Up Next
• The Deacons will continue a stretch of five-consecutive matches on the road with a trip to the Great Lakes State next Saturday. They will play both Michigan State and Eastern Michigan.
• Wake Forest will return to Winston-Salem to kick off a season-long, five-match homestand with a doubleheader on Feb. 26. They will start with a conference contest against Louisville before ending the day versus UNC-Greensboro.
