Deacs Cruise to 7-0 Wins Over Pfeiffer, Boston College

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The ninth-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team registered a pair of 7-0 shutout wins outdoors at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex on Friday, defeating Pfeiffer and Boston College. The Deacs swept the doubles and singles competitions in both contests and did not drop a set on the day.
The victories lifted the Demon Deacons' overall 2016 record to 16-4 and by defeating the Eagles, the Deacons improved to 2-1 in the ACC.
No. 9 Wake Forest 7, Pfeiffer 0
Wake Forest began the afternoon against in-state foe Pfeiffer. The Demon Deacons swept the Falcons in doubles, using a 6-1 win at No. 1 by Keivon Tabrizi and Dennis Uspensky and 6-3 triumphs by tandems of Petros Chrysochos and Sam Bloom at No. 2 and Anthony Delcore and Maksim Kan at No. 3.
The Deacs clinched the victory quickly in singles with wins at Nos. 4-6. Delcore finished first by taking a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 6. He was followed by Bloom at No. 5 and Kan at No. 4.
Shortly after, Jon Ho made it 5-0 with a victory at the second spot and Uspensky followed that by capping a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3. Tabrizi grinded out a 7-5, 6-4 triumph in the top flight to make a 7-0 final.

Looking to regain a winning record in the ACC with Davis Cup competitors Skander Mansouri and Petros Chrysochos back in the lineup, the Demon Deacons got off to a fast start against Boston College with 6-3 wins at the top two doubles positions.
No. 19-ranked Mansouri and Christian Seraphim ended their match first, moments before Chrysochos and Jon Ho wrapped up the doubles point at No. 2. After not converting on their first eight match points, Dennis Uspensky and Keivon Tabrizi eventually completed the doubles sweep in a 7-6 (5) decision at No. 3.
It did not take long for Wake Forest to add to its lead in singles as Seraphim and Maksim Kan made it 3-0 with 6-0, 6-0 shutouts at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively. Chrysochos secured the team victory with a 6-2, 6-1 defeat of Hank Workman at No. 2.
Rounding out the shutout were Ho at No. 3, Uspensky at No. 4 and Mansouri at No. 1. Mansouri erased a 4-1 deficit in his second set with five-straight game wins to end the match.

The Demon Deacons resume a 13-match homestand on Sunday when they host a doubleheader. Expecting to welcome senior All-American Romain Bogaerts back to the lineup, they will take on No. 38 Notre Dame at noon before facing Morehead State at 5 p.m. The homestand will come to a close next Sunday with another doubleheader against Clemson and South Carolina State.
