Deacs Take On Pittsburgh, Duke at Home
• No. 14 Wake Forest wraps up a four-match homestand this week by hosting Pittsburgh on Friday and No. 10 Duke on Saturday.
• Opening serve for both matches is slated for noon.
Last Time Out
• Last week, Wake Forest earned 4-3 wins against No. 38 Notre Dame and No. 10 Virginia and a 6-1 victory over East Carolina.
• The win over the Irish was the Deacs' first in nine meetings since 2004 and their first on the road against Notre Dame since 1997. The win over the Cavaliers was their first since 2008 and a their first versus a top-10 foe since 2007.
• Freshmen Anna Ulyashchenko and Joanna Zalewski went both 3-0 in singles on the week. They both defeated ranked singles opponents for the first time against Virginia. In addition, Ulyashchenko paired with Kimmy Guerin to defeat a ranked doubles tandem for the first time, topping No. 25 Danielle Collins and Meghan Kelley of Virginia.
Deacs in the Rankings
• Wake Forest's 15-4 start with a 6-4 mark against ranked teams has the Deacs ranked No. 14 after starting the season at No. 71. They are in the top 15 for the first time since April 2007.
• Kimmy Guerin and Emma Davis are both nationally ranked in singles. After moving as high as No. 50, Guerin is ranked 84th. Davis made a return to the rankings this week at No. 112. Guerin is 13-5 on the spring with wins over four ranked opponents, while Davis is 14-5 with three triumphs against ranked foes, including a 6-1, 6-4 defeat of No. 53 Monica Robinson last week, the highest nationally-ranked win of her career.
ACC Honors
• Anna Ulyashchenko earned ACC Co-Player of the Week honors this week after going 5-1 in singles and doubles combined last week. She was the first Wake Forest freshman since Ashlee Davis in 2004 to win the award.
• Kimmy Guerin earned the same honor for the second time in her career on Feb. 16.
Racking Up Wins
• Wake Forest has 15 wins through its first 19 matches for the sixth time in program history and for the first time since 2002. This year marks the first time since a 15-8 campaign in 2007 that the Deacs have posted 15 or more victories in a season.
• The Demon Deacons started the season 9-0, marking the best start in program history. They passed their previous team record of seven-straight wins to start a season set in 2014.
100-Win Club
• With her singles victory against Virginia, Samantha Asch became the 39th player in program history to reach 100-career wins in singles and doubles combined.
• Asch became the fifth current Demon Deacon to reach the milestone, joining Kimmy Guerin, Kasey Gardiner, Xue Zhang and Luisa Fernandez.
Up Next
• Wake Forest will finish out its regular-season schedule in April with five conference matches. Next week, the Deacons travel to Syracuse and Boston College.
• To close out their home schedule, they will face Miami on April 8 and Florida State on April 10. The regular season will end on April 15 at NC State.
