Deacons Close Out Regular Season in Raleigh
• No. 27-ranked Wake Forest travels to No. 38 North Carolina State on Friday to conclude its regular season.
• The Demon Deacons and Wolfpack are slated to begin their match at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
• After a hard-fought, 5-2 loss to No. 7 Miami last Friday, the Deacs topped 69th-ranked Florida State, 4-3, on Sunday in their home finale.
• The Demon Deacons honored their three seniors, Xue Zhang, Andrea Retolaza Andrade and Kasey Gardiner, prior to their match against the Seminoles.
• Both Anna Ulyashchenko and Joanna Zalewski went 2-0 on the week in singles. Against the Hurricanes, Ulyashchenko downed No. 61 Wendy Zhang for her second win against a ranked opponent. Zalewski now has a team-leading 28 singles wins in 2015-16, including 20 in dual-match action, also a Demon Deacon-best.
Deacs in the Rankings
• Wake Forest's 18-7 start with an 8-7 mark against ranked teams has the Deacs ranked No. 27 after starting the season at No. 71. They climbed as high as No. 14 on March 22 to join the top 15 for the first time since April of 2007.
• Kimmy Guerin is the Demon Deacons' lone representative in the national singles rankings at No. 59. She is 15-8 at the No. 1 position with seven wins over ranked opponents on the spring and had a career-high ranking of 44th last week.
Doubles Success
• Andrea Retolaza Andrade and Luisa Fernandez have 25 wins as a doubles team in 2015-16, slotting them ninth in a single season in program history.
• Kimmy Guerin and Anna Ulyashchenko are 11-10 at the No. 1 position in dual-match play, including wins over three ranked tandems in the last three weeks. They debuted in the national doubles rankings at No. 45 last week and are now ranked 53rd.
Racking Up Wins
• Wake Forest has 18 wins for the 10th time in program history, but for the first time since 2002. The Demon Deacons' seven ACC wins are tied for their second-most all-time and match their highest conference win total since they went 8-0 in 2000.
• The Deacs started the season 9-0, marking the best start in program history. They passed their previous team record of seven-straight wins to start a season set in 2014.
ACC Honors
• Anna Ulyashchenko earned ACC Co-Player of the Week honors on March 22 after for her efforts in wins against No. 38 Notre Dame, No. 10 Virginia and East Carolina. She was the first Wake Forest freshman since Ashlee Davis in 2004 to win the award.
• Kimmy Guerin earned the same honor for the second time in her career on Feb. 16.
100-Win Club
• With her singles victory against Virginia on March 20, Samantha Asch became the 39th player in program history to reach 100-career wins in singles and doubles combined.
• Asch became the fifth current Demon Deacon to reach the milestone, joining Kimmy Guerin, Kasey Gardiner, Xue Zhang and Luisa Fernandez.
