Deacs Climb to Third Place at Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team moved up to third place during second round play at the 19th annual Bryan National Collegiate, an event it co-hosts with UNC Greensboro at the Bryan Park Champions Course. The Demon Deacons shot 9-over during Saturday's round are at 19-over after 36 holes.
Defending champion Virginia holds the 36-hole lead at 8-over. Florida State is second at 13-over, followed by the Demon Deacons in third place. The tournament features 15 teams, including 10 ranked in the national top 50.
"I think we are getting used to the golf course and are hitting better golf shots, especially around the greens," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "The ball striking was better today too, even though the wind kicked up toward the end. This has been two really solid rounds for us, to go under 300 on consecutive days. It is starting to come together for us and is setting us up well not only for tomorrow but for the upcoming ACC Championship."
Wake Forest was again led by Jennifer Kupcho, who carded a 1-over second-round 73. She is fourth on the individual leaderboard at 1-over for the tournament. Sierra Sims is also in the individual top 10, as she is T-9th at 4-over after a second-round 74. Erica Herr also had a round of 74 on Saturday to move up to T-28th place at 7-over. She is tied with teammate Antonia Eberhard, who is also at 7-over after a second-round 76. Ines Laklalech rounds out the Deacons' lineup in 67th place at 17-over.
The Bryan National Collegiate concludes Sunday at Bryan Park. The final round will have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Admission is free.
