The Wake Forest men's and women's track and field teams completed competition at the High Point VertKlasse Meeting and the Florida Relays on Saturday. The Demon Deacons tallied 18 top-10 finishes on the day.
In an impressive field at the Florida Relays at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla., Alexandria Florent placed fourth in the women's high jump with a leap of 1.68m. In the men's pole vault, Michael Cyphers tied for seventh by clearing 5.00m.
The Deacons' top finish at High Point came from Bobby Jacowleff, who won the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 53.90.
Wake Forest also found success in the throws competitions at the VertKlasse. For the women, Casidy Callahan had a runner-up discus toss of 48.15m. On the men's side, Charlie Ionata had a hammer throw of 62.32m to place fourth and was followed in ninth by teammate John Maurins.
In the men's discus throw, Max Adams came in third with a throw of 52.49m. Steve Michaelsen came in seventh with a mark of 48.76m.
For the Demon Deacon women, Kathryn Lazarchick followed up winning the 800m at the season-opening Wake Forest Open with a fourth-place showing at High Point. Also coming in fourth was Mia Wilson, who posted a 59.75-second time in the 400m.
The Deacs resume action next week at the Tennessee Relays in Knoxville, Tenn.
