LUBBOCK, Texas – Wake Forest junior Will Craig made the next cut on the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award watch list, the National College Baseball Hall of Fame announced.
The award is named for the former Washington State University standout who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s and who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007. The award will be presented as part of the Hall of Fame's Night of Champions celebration July 1-2 in Lubbock.
Initially announced in April, the watch list was cut from 24 to 18 student-athletes, with Craig again making the list.
Craig is a home run away from leading the ACC in all the triple crown categories, as he's first with a .422 average and 57 RBIs and second with 13 homers.
The Johnson City, Tennessee native has served as a co-closer on the mound, holding a 2-0 record and team-high six saves, along with a 2.33 ERA.
Craig was also on the watch list for the award a year ago, when it was won by Louisville's Brendan McKay. The ACC has four student-athletes remaining on the watch list, twice as many as any other conference. Craig is joined by McKay, Georgia Tech's Brandon Gold and Virginia's Adam Haseley from the ACC.
