GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest junior Nate Mondou was named the ACC Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Mondou was on a tear all weekend at Boston College, finishing the series hitting .667 (10-for-15) with a homer, two doubles, eight RBIs and three runs scored.
On Friday, Mondou recorded his first-career five-hit game to go along with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-6 victory.
He followed that up on Saturday with a 3-for-5 effort with a double and walk. Wake Forest went into the eighth inning facing a 7-1 deficit, and after scoring a pair of runs, Mondou drilled his first-career grand slam to tie the contest at 7-7.
The Lake Tapps, Washington native rounded out his weekend with another two-hit effort in the second game Saturday. He also had a strong defensive weekend as he was perfect in 20 chances, helping the Demon Deacons turn six double plays.
During his active nine-game hitting streak, Mondou is hitting .550 with six doubles. The 2015 All-American has raised his season average from .252 to .317 over that span.
The award is the first of Mondou's career. He is the third Deacon to receive the honor this year, joining Will Craig (March 7) and Parker Dunshee (April 18).
The Deacs currently have a 28-19 overall record and have won seven of the last nine games. Wake Forest is in action tomorrow, traveling to High Point for a 6 p.m. contest.
