WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore golfer Will Zalatoris was named an honorable mention PING All-American on Thursday (June 23) as the Golf Coaches Association of America announced its Division I All-America teams. It is the second consecutive year that Zalatoris has been honored by the organization as he was named to the third team as a freshman.
Zalatoris led the Demon Deacons with a 71.20 stroke average in 2015-16, finishing in the individual top 10 in eight of the 14 events he played. He won the title at the season-opening Rod Myers Invitational and finished in the top five in two other events. Zalatoris finished 51st at the NCAA Championship, helping Wake Forest qualify for the event as a team for the first time since 2009. He also earned All-ACC honors for the second consecutive year.
Zalatoris will be in action Friday-Sunday as a member of the United States team at the Palmer Cup. The event, named after Demon Deacon legend Arnold Palmer, is a Ryder Cup style competition that annually matches the best collegiate golfers from the United States against the best from Europe. This year's event is being held at the Formby Golf Club in Formby, England.
