WAKE FOREST OPENS WITH ACC/BIG TEN CHALLENGE
• Wake Forest opens the regular season with the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, where the Demon Deacons and North Carolina will play Iowa and Michigan.
• The Deacs have traditionally opened the season with the event and are hosting it for the for the first time since 2012
• Last year's event was hosted by Iowa, where the Demon Deacons lost 2-1 in overtime to the Hawkeyes and posted a 3-0 win over Michigan.
AVERILL BEGINS 25th YEAR AT WAKE
• Head Coach Jennifer Averill is in her 25th year at Wake Forest, posting a record of 351-166-3 at the school.
• She led the Demon Deacons to the 2002, 2003 and 2004 NCAA Championships.
• Averill guided the Deacs to four ACC Championships (2002, 2003, 2006, 2014)
PRESEASON POLL/TEAM
• Sophomore forward Jule Grashoff was named to the Preseason All-ACC Team after leading the Demon Deacons with 13 goals as a freshman.
• Wake Forest was picked fifth in the preseason ACC poll of the league's coaches.
• The Demon Deacons are No. 7 in the preseason NFHCA poll as all seven ACC programs are ranked in the top 12 nationally.
NEW LOOK FOR KENTNER
• This weekend's ACC/Big Ten Challenge contests are the first regular season games at the renovated Kentner Stadium.
• The facility got a new turf playing surface and re-surfaced track over the summer, in addition to new lighting and enclosing the press box.
• Kentner Stadium will host the 2016 ACC Field Hockey Championship.
