Davis, Omirou Advance to ITA Qualifying Doubles

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Wake Forest women's tennis players Emma Davis and Eliza Omirou continued their strong play at the ITA/Riviera National Championships, winning two matches to advance to the Qualifying doubles draw.
After an 8-3 win Saturday over Tea Jandric and Anna Vrbenska of Ole Miss, the team took down Oklahoma State's Marina Guinart and Katarina Stresnakova, 8-2, on Sunday morning to advance to the Pre-Qualifying Doubles final.
Then, in the the Pre-Qualifying Doubles final in the afternoon, Omirou and Davis defeated East Carolina's Celia Ruiz and Lisa Hofbauer, 8-4. The two become the first Wake Forest doubles team to make it out of pre-qualifying at the ITA National Championships since 2010.
Davis and Omirou will begin competition in the Qualifying Doubles draw on Tuesday.
In the Pre-Qualifying Singles draw on Saturday, Omirou fell in her first match to Georgia's Mariana Gould, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.
Once the Pre-Qualifyiing Singles draw is complete, Davis will begin competition in the Qualifyiing Singles draw.
