Deacs in the Rankings
• The ITA released its first singles and doubles updated rankings since the start of the spring season on Feb. 8. Two Demon Deacons found themselves in the top-75, marking the first time since 2007 in which two Wake Forest players were ranked in the top-75.
• Kimmy Guerin is ranked the No. 53 player in the nation by the ITA. She opened the season ranked No. 33 in the country, the highest ranked Deacon since Martina Pavelec was No. 24 on March 29, 2011.
• Emma Davis fell slightly in the rankings and is currently ranked No. 70 in the country.
The Captains
• Wake Forest's three seniors - Samantha Asch, Luisa Fernandez and Kimmy Guerin - will serve as the team captains in 2017.
Meet the rookies
• Wake Forest is welcoming a pair of freshmen to the roster for the 2016-17 season in Chandler Carter and Alexis Franco.
• Carter is a five-star recruit out of Dallas, Texas, and was ranked the No. 31 recruit in her class. After claiming multiple state titles, she picked Wake Forest over offers from Texas, TCU and Davidson. In the fall season, Carter recorded a team-high eight wins with an 8-5 record.
• Franco also joins the Deacs as a five-star recruit, coming to Winston-Salem from Largo, Florida. She finished her high school career as the No. 40 recruit, but was rated as high as No. 22 in the nation. The No. 8 recruit from Florida also received offers from Clemson, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan and Michigan State.
