Deacs Finish 10th at Suntrust Gator Invite

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Wake Forest men's golf team concluded play Sunday at the Suntrust Gator Invitational with the final round of play at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. The Demon Deacons shot a final round 284 to finish T-10th place at 29-over.
Cameron Young had the low round of the tournament for the Deacs with a 2-under 68 on Sunday. He finished the event T-16th on individual leaderboard at 5-over.
Will Zalatoris had the best finish for Wake Forest, shooting a final round 71 to finish T-12th at 4-over. Paul McBride finished T-26th at 7-over after a final round 73. Eric Bae rounded out the scoring four for the Deacs with a final round 72 to end the tournament at 13-over.
"With the .500 rule in college golf, it shows where every shot is important," said head coach Jerry Haas. "At the end of the day, we could have been sixth, instead of 10th. Now we have to take a better approach to our next event. It is a tough sport and there are a lot of good teams out there. Our schedule is strong and that will make us better. We will have our moments and when they do, all the hard work will pay off."
Wake Forest returns to action Feb. 26-28 for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Los Cabos, Mexico.
