The Matchup
Wake Forest hits the road for five straight, beginning with a Tuesday afternoon contest at High Point.
Last Time Out
Wake Forest won 3-of-4 games against ranked foes last week, following up a win at No. 18 Coastal Carolina with a series victory over No. 20 NC State.
The series victory for the Demon Deacons was the program's first over NC State since 2002, and also snapped a six-game losing streak against the Wolfpack.
Stuart Fairchild hit .500 over the weekend, adding a double, triple and home run. In the rubber game on Sunday, he led off the bottom of the 11th with a triple and came around to score on a Johnny Aiello sacrifice fly.
Wake Forest Storylines
Following the season-opening trip to Houston, the Deacs were hitting just .194 as a team and had only three players hitting better than .215. In the 13 games since, Wake Forest is hitting .356 as a team, with 64 extra-base hits.
That surge has increased the team average to .322, while Wake Forest has scored the fourth-most home runs and eighth-most runs in the country. Seven starters are hitting .310 or better, while Gavin Sheets currently leads the nation with 30 RBIs.
Griffin Roberts has emerged as the closer for the Demon Deacons. In eight appearances, he has a 1-0 record with a 0.61 ERA and a save, striking out 23 batters in 14.2 innings while allowing opposing hitters to hit just .154 against him.
Opponent And Series History
Wake Forest leads the all-time series against the Panthers, 33-17.
The Demon Deacons beat High Point twice last year, winning at home by an 8-3 margin and on the road by a 9-2 score.
High Point has an 8-6 overall record in 2017. The Panthers have won four of their last six, most recently beating winning a pair of three-game series over Kennesaw State and Army West Point.
Jordan Sergent, Austen Zente and Carson Jackson are leading High Point with four home runs apiece.
Looking Ahead
Wake Forest continues its five-game road swing this weekend, traveling to Duke for a three-game series to be played at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
