Deacs Set for an ACC Showdown
• The Demon Deacons travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on the No. 32 Cavaliers in the first of two matches this weekend. The Deacs return home on Sunday to host No. 10 Georgia Tech.
• Earlier this season, the Deacs defeated the Cavaliers 4-0 at the ITA Kickoff Weekend. Kimmy Guerin, Chandler Carter and Samantha Asch all earned wins playing singles against Virginia. Carter and Emma Davis had help from Asch and Joanna Zalewski to secure the doubles point for Wake Forest.
• During the 2015-16 season, Wake Forest fell to the Yellow Jackets 5-2 in Atlanta, Ga. The Deacs have not defeated Georgia Tech since 2010.
Last Time Out
• Wake Forest hosted No. 35 NC State and ECU for a pair of dual matches. The Deacs took the doubles point over the Wolfpack, but were not able to maintain the lead in singles play. No. 62 Guerin was the only Deac to earn a victory in singles play. Wake Forest ultimately fell 5-2 in the top 50 match-up.
• The Demon Deacons were able to rebound ater the afternoon session to defeat the Pirates 6-1. The Deacs remain undefeated in the series history against ECU at 8-0.
Undefeated in February
• This season, the Deacs completed the entire month of February without dropping a single match. This is the first time the Demon Deacons have gone undefeated in February in recent history.
Deacs in the Rankings
• The ITA released its updated rankings on March 28. The Deacs claim the No. 29 spot after falling to No. 26 NC State and defeating ECU this past weekend.
• Kimmy Guerin is ranked the No. 62 player in the nation by the ITA. She opened the season ranked No. 33 in the country, the highest ranked Deacon since Martina Pavelec was No. 24 on March 29, 2011.
• Emma Davis rejoins the rankings as she claims the No. 110 spot.
The Captains
• Wake Forest's three seniors - Samantha Asch, Luisa Fernandez and Kimmy Guerin - are serving as the team captains in 2017.
Up Next
• Wake Forest will begin a three-match road trip starting in Pittsburgh. The match is set for Friday, April 7. First serve will fall at 4 p.m.
