Wake Forest Field Hockey Team Earns Academic Honors

CHANDLER, Ariz. - The Wake Forest field hockey team has been named a 2016 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award winner, the organization announced Wednesday, March 8.
The National Academic Team Award honors institutions that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the first semester of the 2016-2017 academic year. Seventy-six teams in Division I field hockey were recognized including six fellow ACC programs in Boston College, Duke, Louisville, North Carolina, Syracuse and Virginia.
The organization will announce the National Academic Squad and Scholars of Distinction on Wednesday, March 15. The National Academic Squad includes all student-athletes with a cumulative GPA or 3.3 or higher through the first semester, while the Scholars of Distinction have a cumulative GPA of 3.9 or higher through the first semester.
The Demon Deacons finished the 2016 season with a 11-8 record.
