AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Wake Forest men's golf team posted its fourth straight top-three finish as play concluded Sunday at the 3M Augusta Invitational. The Demon Deacons shot 24-under over three rounds at Forest Hills Golf Club to finish runner-up at the event.
The Demon Deacons shot a 10-under 278 during Sunday's final round to finish 24-under, four shots behind champion UCF.
Will Zalatoris shot a 6-under final round 66 to finish tied for second at 10-under. It was the third straight top-two finish for the reigning ACC Player of the Month.
Paul McBride shot a final round 69 to post a top-10 finish at 5-under. Lee Detmer finished tied for 16th place at 4-under after shooting a final round 71. Eric Bae shot even par 72 on Sunday to finish tied for 19th place at 3-under.
"This is a great event and we played very well today," said head coach Jerry Haas. "At the end of the day, just a few strokes made the difference. We have a few things to work on, but it was another great showing by the Demon Deacons. Will had a great round today with nine birdies and that led a good team effort."
The Demon Deacons conclude the regular season next weekend with the Irish Creek Collegiate in Kannapolis, N.C.
